The possibility of usage of the Danube-Oder-Elbe canal for the river transportation within the countries of the central Europe
Zajíčková, Šárka ; Zelený, Lubomír (advisor) ; Veselá, Klára (referee)
This thesis analyses potential benefits of Danube-Oder-Elbe canal to the states of the central Europe. In order to do that it is necessary to describe the current importance of inland navigation within these states as well as the condition of the waterways. The main bottlenecks on existing infrastructure are the missing locks. The paper also looks into the development of support of the Danube-Oder-Elbe canal from the first reference in 1700 to the year of 2014. The last part of the work deals with the calculation of estimated direct costs and profits of the construction. Besides the direct there are also indirect expenses, which cover not only the necessary repairs and maintenance, but also external costs. External costs of inland water navigation are estimated to be six times lower than those of road transport. This difference could be a significant competitive advantage of the river transportation.
Transport Externalities and Their Solution Possibilities
NEUMANNOVÁ, Veronika
The main aim of my theses entitled Transport Externalities and Their Solution Possibilities was to define transport externalities and to describe the methods of calculating the external costs. My goal in the analysis part was to evaluate the effectiveness of existing measures leading to reduce the height of external costs and to suggest further idea of externalities solutions. Transport activities give rise to environmental impacts (air pollution), accidents and congestions.
Czech Electronic Toll System
Beneš, Vojtěch ; Zelený, Lubomír (advisor) ; Černohorský, Jan (referee)
The goal of the thesis is to give reader a detailed description of the Czech electronic toll system with emphasis to the potential future system development and infrastructure toll extension. The National Transportation Policy, legislative framework concerning the infrastructure tolling, and particular European toll systems are described in the first part of the thesis. Analysis of congestin toll project in Prague from internalization of externalities perspective
Rychetský, David ; Geuss, Erik (advisor) ; Vejchodská, Eliška (referee)
This paper is about introduction of congestion toll in centre of Prague. I look at the toll as an internalization of externalities instrument. Car transport causes high externalities in centres of cities, so there exists a tendency to solve this problem by different arrangements. Altough particular congestion toll project in Prague brings internalization of automobile externalities, this project is not profitable for the society because of high costs.
Ecology and economics of contemporary internal combustion engines
Křesala, Vojtěch ; Zelený, Lubomír (advisor) ; Bartoš, Vojtěch (referee)
This thesis is about contemporary types of engines in individual automobile transportation. Theoretical part contains overview of contemporary automobile engines, interaction of individual automobile transportation and environment, regulations based in law and basics of theory of external costs. In practical part, Toyota Prius with hybrid drive and Toyota Coraolla with internal combustion engine are compared. In calculation of costs for end customer, both vehicles have the same costs per km. If society represented by state is concerned, with external costs included, Toyta Corolla does better, because the difference in income from taxes is higher then difference in external costs. State has no reason why to make any incentives on Toyota Prius.
External costs in traffic and on possibilities of their calculation
VOBORSKÁ, Petra
Traffic forms one of the major parts of economy and belongs to the basic needs of our society. This study described traffic and external costs. External costs are executed on subjects that are not connected directly with traffic. After thoroughfull study of this problematics this study attempts to find a solution. The example of municipalities Lišov and Štěpánovice shows how communities may deal with heavy traffic road and its negative influence.
Externalities in the selected industries and their solution
KLOUD, Petr
